OTCO IN THE HIGH SCHOOL INITIATIVE 

The objective of this initiative is to recruit and trainin the next generation professionals to the Drinking Water and Wastwater Treatment field. Training is held as after school program so as to not interfere with the school's curriculum. College credit is available for the training.








For 2014, the starting the average starting salary for operators was $12/hour for very small systems to $25/hours for large system. Ohio Administrative Codes 3745-7 06 states the minimum educational requirements for certification in this field is as follows:

  1. Have a high school diploma or the equivalent;
  2. Documentation of successfully passing the general education development test or a statement of high school equivalence shall be accepted in lieu of a high school diploma ; or
  3. Completion of a vocational training program in the field of application may be accepted in lieu of a high school diploma .
